The ten days we spent in Nicaragua passed by quickly. While having had strong headwinds on most days, we enjoyed finally being able to find more dirt roads and to camp more frequently (campspots, Warmshowers, churches). If we didn’t manage to camp for little or nothing, accommodation turned out a little pricier, 260-300 Cordobas. Food was still cheap though; we spent around 200 Cordobas per day (1 USD equals around 26 Cordobas). We had a hard time ‘eating out’, however. All the way from Mexico to El Salvador it was easy to find street food. In Nicaragua it seemed to be the case that you would have to go into an actual restaurant instead.
After some lovely days cycling around Ometepe Island, we had a rest day at Playa Gigante.
First we were trying to find Howler Monkeys, now they seem to be everywhere – we see them when not even looking for hem (and hear them all the time anyway)
